Photos taken while walking the pups or just wandering around the streets of San Francisco
Is this part of your house?
Yes. I’m living in the family home now (fourth generation). It’s my Dad’s garden and aviary.
That room represents a lot of work!!
Yes, he built it himself! (when he was a bit younger) 😉
+ daily upkeep. That’s a buncha birds! We have 1 cockatiel and 7 ducks. One of my sons has an African Gray. Daughter in Law is a veterinarian. They live far away from me and have no children, but many critters live with them, generating funny and/or poignant stories.
Upkeep isn’t too bad since they live in their own “house.” There’s a fountain in it that flows to and from the fish pond adjacent to the aviary, so just have to fill up the many seed dishes when low, give them lettuce treats, and sweep occasionally. My home growing up was practically a pet store and zoo, so now with “only” two pups, three cats, tropical fish tank, fish pond, and all the various birds in the aviary, it doesn’t feel like much. 😉
That is still quite a lot for an urban setting! Only 5 years ago we had 2 horses, 3 cats, 5 dogs, dozen chickens, buncha ducks, buncha rabbits, coupla dozen white tail deer, the 1 cockatiel, and lotsa wildlife. But we are not in an urban area. Only have 1 horse, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, and 7 ducks, and about a dozen deer, now. I think this officially a “hobby farm”.
